IPTV Jacom on PC & Mac
IPTV on PC and Mac: watch on Windows or macOS, then on the TV
A laptop or desktop makes a perfectly good IPTV screen. Install the desktop player and sign in. If the app ever acts up, VLC opens the same channels from a single link.

IPTV on PC runs through a desktop player on Windows 10 or 11, or on a Mac, signed in with the details IPTV Jacom sends by email. The main app on this page is IPTV Smarters Pro, which its maker offers as a Windows installer and a macOS download as of 2026. If you would rather not install anything new, the free VLC media player opens the same channels from your M3U link.
The last part of the page runs an HDMI cable to a television, which turns an old laptop into a set-top box for the guest room or the cottage. A free 24-hour trial login works exactly like a paid one here.
Before step 1: have these ready
- A Windows 10 or 11 PC, or a Mac, with permission to install software on it
- Your IPTV Jacom email with the server address, username, password and M3U link (Live Chat can resend the M3U link)
- An Ethernet cable or a strong 5 GHz Wi-Fi signal where the computer sits
- For the TV part: an HDMI cable long enough to reach, and an adapter if the laptop only has USB-C ports
Install IPTV on PC or Mac, step by step
Download the desktop player from its maker
On a Mac, open the Mac App Store and search for Smarters; the player is listed under a slightly different name as of 2026. On Windows, desktop builds of IPTV player apps move around, so ask Live Chat for the current official download before installing anything. Skip download portals that bundle apps with toolbars. If no trusted installer is available for your computer, jump to the VLC method further down: it plays the same channels from your M3U link.
Windows: run the installer
Double-click the file in your Downloads folder. If a blue box reads Windows protected your PC, click More info, check that the publisher looks right, then click Run anyway. Click through Next and Install, then Finish.
Mac: move the app and approve it once
Open the .dmg and drag the app icon onto the Applications folder. The first launch may warn that Apple cannot check the app. Click Done, open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway, then type your Mac password. Apple explains this check in its guide to opening apps safely.
Paste in your Xtream Codes details
Choose Login with Xtream Codes API. Name the profile anything, such as "Office PC". Then copy each value from the email with Ctrl+C (Command+C on a Mac) and paste it with Ctrl+V (Command+V): username, password, and the server URL with its
http://and port. Pasting means no typos. Click Add User. Our IPTV Smarters Pro walkthrough explains every field and setting in detail.Open Live TV and size the window
When the progress bars finish, click Live TV, a category on the left, then a channel. Double-click the video to go full screen and press Esc to come back. If the dashboard shows Install EPG, click it so show names appear beside each channel. The groups match the categories on our channel list.
Keep VLC ready as the backup
Install VLC from the official VideoLAN site. On Windows, open it, click Media, then Open Network Stream (Ctrl+N), paste your M3U link and click Play. On a Mac, click File, then Open Network (Command+N), paste the link and click Open. To pick another channel, open the playlist: View, Playlist on Windows; Window, Playlist on a Mac.
Plug the computer into the TV
Connect the HDMI cable to the computer and to a free port on the TV, then select that HDMI input with the TV remote. On Windows, press Windows key + P and pick Duplicate or Second screen only. On a Mac, the TV shows up under System Settings, Displays. The table below covers sound and sleep.
Can I watch IPTV on Windows or Mac with just VLC?
Yes. VLC plays your M3U link on Windows and Mac without any IPTV app, but it works best as a fallback. You get every channel in one long list, with no TV guide grid, no favourites screen and no catch-up.
- Give it a minute. The full list holds 55,000+ live channels plus movies and series, so VLC can take a while to read it. The English Channels Only package is much shorter; ask Live Chat if that suits you.
- Find a channel by name. Type in the search box at the top of the playlist window instead of scrolling.
- Smooth out stutters. On Windows: Tools, Preferences, Input / Codecs, then set Default caching policy to Higher latency. VLC then holds a few more seconds of video. The Mac version has a similar caching choice in its settings.
If VLC plays sound over a black picture, our article on the IPTV black screen with no sound walks through the usual causes.
How do I put IPTV from a PC on the TV?
Run one HDMI cable from the computer to the TV, select that input, and point both the picture and the sound at the TV. The cable carries the stream exactly as the computer plays it, so the picture loses nothing on the way.
| Task | Windows 10 and 11 | Mac |
|---|---|---|
| Show the picture | Windows key + P, then Duplicate or Second screen only | System Settings, Displays, select the TV, then Mirror or Extended display |
| Send the sound to the TV | Settings, System, Sound, then pick the TV under Output | System Settings, Sound, Output, then pick the TV |
| Stop the screen going dark | Settings, System, Power & battery, Screen and sleep | System Settings, Lock Screen, then the display timer for power adapter |
| Go wireless instead | Windows key + K casts to Miracast TVs | Control Centre, Screen Mirroring, then an Apple TV or AirPlay TV |
A cable beats wireless mirroring for live sports, which can lag or stutter. To keep a Windows laptop playing with the lid shut, set Control Panel, Power Options, Choose what closing the lid does to Do nothing. If you own an Apple TV, the player installed there is steadier than mirroring a Mac; see the Apple TV and iPhone guide.
Desktop IPTV problems and quick fixes
Most desktop trouble comes from a pasted typo, a Wi-Fi card that dozes off, or a second device using the same login.
- Login refused. A pasted value picked up a trailing space, or the URL lost its
http://. Delete the profile and paste again. - Playback stops after a few minutes. Another device may be using your only screen. Our answer on IPTV on multiple devices explains how screens are counted.
- A Wi-Fi laptop drops out every evening. Open Device Manager, Network adapters, your Wi-Fi card, Power Management, and untick Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
IPTV on PC & Mac: common questions
Can I watch IPTV in a web browser?
Not in a normal browser tab. Live IPTV streams need a player that reads Xtream Codes or M3U logins, and Chrome, Edge and Safari do not. Some web-based players exist, but they ask you to type your login into a stranger’s website, which we do not recommend. The desktop app or VLC keeps your details on your own computer.
Is IPTV Smarters Pro on the Mac App Store?
A Smarters player is, but under a slightly different name, and as of 2026 it may only install on Macs with Apple silicon (M1 and newer). Intel Macs can use the macOS download from the app maker’s site, or VLC with the M3U link. Look for the Smarters logo and Xtream Codes support in the description before you install.
Does VLC show the TV guide?
No, not as a grid. VLC reads the channel names from the M3U link and plays them, but it does not draw the programme guide that IPTV apps display. For the guide, use the desktop app, or check listings in a phone app while VLC plays on the computer.
Does a laptop count as a screen on my plan?
Yes. Any computer playing a channel uses one screen, exactly like a TV or a phone. If the PC and an Android phone need to play at the same time, choose a 2-screen plan. Prices for every screen count are on the IPTV subscription page, paid once by Interac e-Transfer. The phone side is covered in our Android phone and tablet guide.
Is Wi-Fi or a cable better for IPTV on a PC?
A cable, whenever it is practical. An Ethernet cable from the router removes the dropouts caused by walls, microwaves and the neighbours’ networks. Thin laptops without an Ethernet port can use a USB-C Ethernet adapter, a small purchase at any Canadian electronics store.
