IPTV Smarters Pro setup: the login screen, TV guide and settings

Before step 1: have these ready

• IPTV Smarters Pro already installed (the device guides show how for each TV, stick, phone or computer)
• Your IPTV Jacom welcome email, or trial email, open on a second screen beside you
• About five minutes, plus one or two more while the first channel list downloads

IPTV Smarters Pro setup and login, step by step

1. Get the app from the right source for your device

   Phones, tablets and Google TV use Google Play, as our Android phone and tablet guide explains. A Fire TV Stick needs the app sideloaded with Downloader. For Windows and Mac, ask Live Chat for the current official build rather than trusting a search result. Whatever the device, stay away from "modded" copies on file-sharing sites; they are where most crashes and pop-up ads come from.

2. Accept the terms and pick the login type

   Open the app and accept the terms of use. The next screen lists the ways to add a playlist. Choose Login with Xtream Codes API. The only other choice you might need is Load Your Playlist or File/URL, which takes an M3U link. Xtream Codes is the better route because it brings in the guide and the movie posters automatically.

3. Fill in the four login fields

   The form shows Any Name, Username, Password and a URL box with the hint http://url_here.com:port. The table under these steps explains each one. Enter the values exactly as your email shows them, then press ADD USER.

4. Open your profile from List Users

   After a short check, a message confirms the user was added and the List Users screen appears. Select your new profile. The app downloads live channels, movies and series, with a bar for each. One profile per login is all you need, even if the same login runs on several devices.

5. Install the TV guide

   On the dashboard, select Install EPG; a few versions tuck it into Settings instead. Once it finishes, Live with EPG shows the channel list with programme times beside it. 6. Adjust stream format, player and clock

   Open Settings. Leave Stream Format on its default unless channels stutter or show a black picture; then try HLS (.m3u8), or MPEGTS (.ts) if HLS was already selected. Player Selection lets you swap the built-in player for another one when a channel misbehaves. Time Format switches the guide between a 12-hour and a 24-hour clock. Names shift slightly between versions.

7. Mark favourites while you watch

   In Live TV, hold OK on the remote, or long-press on a touchscreen, over a channel and choose Add to Favourite. A Favourites category appears at the top of the list. The app saves favourites on each device separately, so repeat this on the TV and on the phone.

The IPTV Smarters login needs four values, and three of them come straight from your IPTV Jacom email. Only Any Name is your own choice.

When the app refuses a login, the cause nearly always sits in this table. Delete the profile from List Users and add it again rather than editing it. The steps are the same whether you use a paid plan or the free 24-hour trial.

Parental control, favourites and multi-screen in IPTV Smarters

Parental control locks chosen categories behind a password, and multi-screen plays several channels side by side on one display.

Parental control

Go to Settings, then Parental Control. The first visit asks you to create a password. In most versions, tabs for Live, Movies and Series then list every category; tick the ones to lock, such as adult or late-night film groups. A locked category asks for the password each time, and the setting stays on that device only.

Multi-screen

Select Multi-Screen on the dashboard, choose a layout, then select each empty window to add a channel. It shines on a big TV during playoff season or a busy news night. Each window is a separate stream, though, so four windows need a plan with four screens. On a 1-screen plan the extra windows will not play. All screen counts are on the subscription page.

Using IPTV Smarters in Canada: problems and fixes

The app behaves the same in Canada as anywhere else, so most problems trace back to the login, the guide clock or the home network.

• The app is missing from Google Play. Store listings come and go. Search the exact name, check the developer, and if it is still absent, install the APK from the official site.
• Channels play but the guide is empty. Run Install EPG again and give it a few minutes; guide data arrives after the channel list.
• French channels seem to be missing. They sit in the Quebec and French groups. Use the search icon in Live TV, or browse the channel categories to see the group names.
• The app crashes on launch. On Android: Settings, Apps, IPTV Smarters Pro, Storage, Clear cache. Then update the app.
