Amazon Fire TV Stick IPTV setup guide: install IPTV Jacom step by step

IPTV on Firestick works by sideloading a player app, because the Amazon Appstore does not carry the main IPTV players. You install the free Downloader app from the Appstore, allow it to install apps, type in the link for IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate, then sign in with the Xtream Codes details that IPTV Jacom sends you. The whole thing takes about ten minutes and you never touch a computer. This page covers the Fire TV Stick Lite, the HD stick, the 4K and 4K Max models and the Fire TV Cube. The same steps work for the free trial and for a paid plan.

One honest note before you start. In 2025 Amazon began shipping some sticks on a new system called Vega OS, which cannot run Android apps. As of 2026 the Fire OS models still sideload normally. If Settings on your stick mentions Vega OS, read the "which stick" section lower down before you buy anything else.

Before step 1: have these ready

  • A Fire TV Stick or Cube that is already set up with an Amazon account and connected to Wi-Fi
  • Your IPTV Jacom login email with the server URL, username and password (or a trial login)
  • Internet of at least 15 Mbps for HD, 25 Mbps or more if you want the 4K channels
  • The Fire TV remote, plus the Fire TV phone app if you hate on-screen keyboards

How to install IPTV on a Fire TV Stick, step by step

Do the steps in order. Steps 1 to 3 prepare the stick, step 4 installs the player, and steps 5 to 7 sign you in and tidy up.

  1. Turn on installs from outside the Appstore

Press Home on the remote, go to Settings (the gear on the right), then My Fire TV. If you see Developer options, open it. If it is hidden, go to About instead, highlight the first line that names your device, and press the select button seven times until a message says you are now a developer. Developer options then appears under My Fire TV.

Inside Developer options, open Install unknown apps. Nothing to switch yet; you come back here after Downloader is installed.

  2. Install Downloader from the Appstore

Go back Home and search with the magnifier icon, or hold the microphone button and say "Downloader". Pick the orange Downloader app by AFTVnews and choose Get. It is free and takes under a minute.

Now return to Settings, My Fire TV, Developer options, Install unknown apps, and switch Downloader to On. This is the switch people forget, and it is the reason most installs fail at step 4.

  3. Open Downloader and allow its permissions

Launch Downloader. The first time, it asks for permission to access files on the device. Choose Allow. You land on a Home screen with a URL box in the middle and a small on-screen keyboard.

  4. Type the app link and install the player

Click the URL box and type the download link for the player you want. Use the link from the app maker's own website, or ask us in Live Chat and we send the current link so you do not retype a long address by hand. Press Go.

Downloader fetches the file and opens the Android install screen. Choose Install, wait for "App installed", then Done. When Downloader offers to delete the installer file, say yes; the stick has little storage.

Not sure which player to pick? Our best IPTV app for Firestick answer compares the two in plain words. In short: IPTV Smarters Pro is simpler, TiviMate has the nicer TV guide.

  5. Sign in with your Xtream Codes details

In IPTV Smarters Pro: open the app, accept the terms, choose Add New User, then Login with Xtream Codes API. Type any name you like, then the username, password and server URL exactly as they appear in your IPTV Jacom email, including http:// and the port number. Press Add User.

In TiviMate: choose Add playlist, then Xtream Codes login. Enter the server URL, username and password and press Next. Our TiviMate walkthrough shows each settings screen if you want more detail.

Capital letters matter in the password. A space at the end of the username is the most common typo we see.

  6. Let the channel list and TV guide load

The first load pulls in 55,000+ channels and the programme data, so give it a minute or two. In IPTV Smarters Pro, open Live TV and the categories appear on the left. If the guide shows nothing, go to Settings, then EPG, and choose Install EPG. In TiviMate the guide fills in by itself with a progress bar at the top.

  7. Move the app to the front row and set the picture

Hold the Home button, pick Apps, highlight your player, press the menu button (three lines) and choose Move to front (more button tricks are in the IPTV remote shortcuts guide). Then, inside the player's settings, set the decoder to Hardware if the picture stutters (hardware or software decoding explained). For Canadian channels, open the group for your province, for example the Toronto or Montreal locals, and press the menu button on a channel to add it to Favourites.

Tips that make Firestick IPTV run smoother

The single best change is the short HDMI extender cable that comes in the box: it moves the stick a few centimetres away from the TV's metal back, which often improves the Wi-Fi signal.

  • Clear the cache now and then. Settings, Applications, Manage Installed Applications, pick the player, Clear cache. Do this when the app starts opening slowly; the Fire Stick cache and storage guide explains when to clear data instead.
  • Keep the app list short. A Fire TV Stick Lite has only 1 GB of memory. Uninstall games and apps you never use so the player has room to breathe.
  • Turn off home-screen autoplay. Settings, Preferences, Featured Content, switch off Allow Video Autoplay. The home screen stops streaming trailers in the background.
  • Type from your phone. The Fire TV app on Android or iPhone has a keyboard that pastes a 40-character server URL in one go and avoids typos.
  • Wired beats wireless. If the stick sits far from the router, a Fire TV Ethernet adapter (about $20 CAD) ends most buffering. Our IPTV buffering fix for Canada post covers the rest.

Fire TV Stick problems and quick fixes

Nine times out of ten, a failed Firestick install is the Install unknown apps switch, and a failed login is a typo in the server URL.

Which Fire TV Stick should you buy for IPTV in Canada?

The Fire TV Stick 4K is the safest buy for IPTV in Canada as of 2026: it runs Fire OS, has a stronger Wi-Fi radio than the Lite, and plays the 4K channels.

  • Fire TV Stick Lite and HD: fine for one HD screen in a bedroom. The small memory means you should keep the app list short.
  • Fire TV Stick 4K and 4K Max: the main living-room pick. Faster chip, Wi-Fi 6 on the Max, 4K channels.
  • Fire TV Cube: has an Ethernet port, the quickest menus and hands-free voice. Good for a family room that streams every evening.
  • Vega OS models (such as the 2025 Fire TV Stick 4K Select): cannot sideload Android apps at the time of writing. If you already own one, a Google TV streamer or an Android box is the simpler route.

IPTV on Fire TV Stick: common questions

Is IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate better on a Firestick?

Pick IPTV Smarters Pro if you want the simplest setup; pick TiviMate if you want a cable-style TV guide. Both are free to install and both take an Xtream Codes login. TiviMate Premium is a paid add-on for extras such as recording and several playlists. Many customers install both and keep the one they like after a week.

Do I need a computer or a VPN to install IPTV on Firestick?

No. Every step above happens on the stick itself with the remote. A VPN is not required for IPTV Jacom. Some customers add one on evenings when their internet provider slows video traffic, but try the plain setup first and only add a VPN if you see buffering at the same time each night.

Why does my Firestick say the app is from an unknown source?

Because the player did not come from the Amazon Appstore. The warning is normal for sideloaded apps, and it is the reason step 1 turns on Install unknown apps for Downloader. Install only the official IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate file from the app maker, or the link our support team sends, and ignore "modded" copies.

Can I use the free trial on my Fire TV Stick?

Yes. Request the free 24-hour trial and we send the same kind of Xtream Codes login a paying customer gets. Install the app once, sign in with the trial details, and when you buy a plan you only change the username and password. Nothing needs to be reinstalled.

How much internet data does Firestick IPTV use?

Roughly 1 to 1.5 GB per hour for an HD channel and about 5 to 7 GB per hour for 4K. A home on an unlimited plan from a major Canadian provider will not notice. If your plan has a data cap, say on rural fixed wireless or satellite, watch in HD and check the usage page after the first week.
