IPTV Jacom on Apple TV & iPhone
IPTV on Apple TV, iPhone and iPad: install the app and log in
No box and no jailbreak. One free download from the App Store plus the login from your welcome email puts IPTV Jacom on the Apple TV, the iPhone and the iPad, usually inside ten minutes.
- About 10 minutes
- Works with trial and paid logins
- Every button named

IPTV on Apple TV runs through a normal player app from the App Store. You install the player on the Apple TV, type in the Xtream Codes details that IPTV Jacom emails you, and the channel list and TV guide fill in by themselves. The same app, with the same login, then goes on your iPhone and iPad from their own App Store.
This page walks through all three devices. The Apple TV comes first, because that is where most families watch. The phone and tablet follow, then a section on AirPlay for the evenings when a stream on the iPhone belongs on the big screen. Nothing here needs a computer or a cable. Every plan from IPTV Jacom uses the same login details, so the trial and the paid plan install the same way. If you do not have a login yet, the free 24-hour trial gives you the complete list to test on every Apple device you own.
Before step 1: have these ready
- An Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K signed in with an Apple ID, plus an iPhone or iPad for the phone part
- Your IPTV Jacom welcome email with the server URL, username and password
- Wi-Fi or Ethernet with 15 Mbps or more for HD, 25 Mbps for 4K channels
- The Siri Remote, or the Apple TV Remote in Control Centre on your iPhone for faster typing
Install IPTV on Apple TV first, then on the iPhone and iPad
Open the App Store on the Apple TV and search for a player
From the Apple TV home screen, open the App Store and move up to the Search tab. Type IPTV Smarters. As of 2026 the listing may appear as "IPTV Smarters" or "Smarters Player Lite", and the publisher name has changed more than once, so pick the one with the Smarters logo. If neither shows up, "GSE Smart IPTV" or any player that mentions Xtream Codes in its description does the same job.
Typing with the Siri Remote is slow. If your iPhone is nearby, a keyboard banner pops up on it the moment a text field is selected on the Apple TV. Use that instead.
Download it and open it
Click Get, confirm with your Apple ID if asked, then click Open. Accept the terms screen. The first real screen asks how you want to add your playlist. Nothing is charged for the install. Some players sell extra features inside the app later, but you can watch every channel without them.
Pick "Login with Xtream Codes API"
Choose Login with Xtream Codes API. This is the option that matches the three details in your IPTV Jacom email: server URL, username and password. If your email contains an M3U link instead, choose Load your playlist or file/URL and paste that link. Every button and setting inside the app is explained on the IPTV Smarters Pro walkthrough if a screen looks different from what this page describes.
Fill in the four fields exactly as sent
Any Name can be anything, for example "Living room". Then type the username, the password and the server URL. The URL must include
http://and the port number at the end, exactly as written in the email. Capital letters matter in the username and password. The most common slip is an extra space at the end of a field, which the Apple TV keyboard adds easily, so check the last character before you move on.Click Add User and let the list download
Click Add User. A message such as "Downloading channels" runs for one to three minutes the first time, longer on slow Wi-Fi. Do not press the Back button while it runs. When it finishes you land on the main screen with Live TV, Movies and Series. The list is large, so give the first open a moment before you scroll.
Play a channel and check the guide
Open Live TV, pick a category such as Canadian news, and click a channel. Press the centre of the touch surface for full screen and the Back button to return. Then open the EPG. Show times should match your local time zone; if they are off by whole hours, the fix is in the settings table further down. The full category list for every plan is on the channels page.
Install the same player on the iPhone or iPad
On the phone or tablet, open the App Store, search for the same player and tap Get. Confirm with Face ID or Touch ID. Open it, choose the Xtream Codes login again and enter the same three details. Rotate the device sideways for a full-screen picture. On an iPad, many players offer picture-in-picture, which keeps a game running in a corner while you read or answer email.
Save favourites on every device
Favourites are stored per device, not per account, so set them up on each one. On the Apple TV, hold the centre of the touch surface on a channel until the options menu appears, then choose Add to Favourites. On the iPhone, tap the star or heart next to the channel name. From then on the Favourites category sits at the top of Live TV on that device, which saves a lot of scrolling through 55,000+ channels.
How do I AirPlay IPTV from an iPhone to an Apple TV?
Start the channel on the iPhone, swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Centre, tap Screen Mirroring and choose your Apple TV from the list. The TV shows the picture within a few seconds and the iPhone becomes the remote. Both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi network for the Apple TV to appear in the list.
Some players also show an AirPlay icon (a rectangle with a triangle at the bottom) in the full-screen controls. That route sends only the video, so the phone screen can go dark and notifications stay off the TV. Mirroring sends everything on the screen, including messages that arrive while you watch. Apple describes both routes in its AirPlay support article.
AirPlay is handy for a quick share, but it is not the best daily setup. The phone must stay awake, the battery drains fast, and the picture is limited by what the phone decodes. Installing the player directly on the Apple TV, as in the steps above, gives a steadier stream with the remote in your hand. The same mirroring trick also reaches AirPlay-compatible televisions from Samsung and LG, if you own one and have not yet installed a player on it.
Apple TV and iPhone settings that help IPTV
Five settings make the biggest difference on Apple devices: frame rate matching, the sleep timer, Low Data Mode, Auto-Lock and the network cable. Each takes under a minute to change and none of them needs to be touched again.
| Setting | Where to find it | What to pick and why |
|---|---|---|
| Match Frame Rate | Apple TV: Settings → Video and Audio → Match Content | Turn it on so hockey and soccer pan smoothly instead of stuttering every few seconds |
| Sleep After | Apple TV: Settings → General → Sleep After | Set 1 hour or Never for long games; the default can put the box to sleep mid-stream |
| Low Data Mode | iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Options | Keep it off on Wi-Fi days, or the player may drop to a lower picture quality on its own |
| Auto-Lock | iPhone: Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock | Choose Never while watching, or the screen locks and the stream pauses |
| Ethernet | Apple TV 4K with the Ethernet port, at the back | Wire it if the Wi-Fi drops in the evening; a cable beats any router tweak |
The time zone matters too. On the Apple TV, Settings → General → Time Zone should name your city, for example Toronto or Vancouver. The guide reads the clock from the device, so a wrong zone shifts every listing by hours even though the streams play fine.
What to do when IPTV will not play on an Apple device
Most Apple TV and iPhone problems come down to a typo in the login, a slow Wi-Fi band or an app that needs a different decoder. Work down this list from the top and stop when the picture comes back.
- "Invalid username or password". Delete the user and type the details again, especially the server URL and its port. If it still fails, open Live Chat and ask us to check whether the line is active. A trial that has passed its 24 hours shows this same message.
- Channels start, then spin. Run a speed test on the device itself. Under 15 Mbps on a 5 GHz network points to the router, not the service. Move closer, switch bands, or use Ethernet on the Apple TV.
- The app is not in the App Store. Player names and publishers change. Search the other names from step 1, and make sure the Apple ID region is set to Canada. Our comparison of IPTV player apps lists the current alternatives.
- Sound but a black picture. In the player settings, switch the decoder from the native player to the built-in one, or the other way round. It takes ten seconds and clears most black-screen cases on tvOS.
- The guide is empty. Wait a few minutes after the first login, then use the refresh option in the EPG settings. Guide data downloads after the channels, not with them.
- Everything works on Wi-Fi but not on cellular. Check Low Data Mode and your carrier's own video limits, which often cap streams at standard definition. Our answer on IPTV on iPhone and iPad covers data use in detail.
IPTV on Apple TV & iPhone: common questions
Is there an IPTV app for Apple TV?
Yes. Players that read Xtream Codes and M3U logins are on the tvOS App Store, and IPTV Smarters (sometimes listed as Smarters Player Lite) is the one most of our customers use. Install it from the App Store on the Apple TV itself, enter the login from your welcome email, and the channels load. No jailbreak, computer or sideloading is involved.
Can the Apple TV and my iPhone use the same login at the same time?
Only if your plan has two or more screens. A 1-screen plan plays on one device at a time; opening a channel on the iPhone while the Apple TV is playing stops one of them. Plans for 2 to 5 screens run them together under one login, and the price for each count is on the plans page.
Why does the App Store show Smarters Player Lite instead of IPTV Smarters Pro?
Apple lists the iOS and tvOS builds under slightly different names than the Android version, and the names have changed more than once. As of 2026, Smarters Player Lite and IPTV Smarters belong to the same family of app. Both accept Xtream Codes and M3U logins and both work with IPTV Jacom.
Does AirPlay count as a second screen on my plan?
No. AirPlay mirrors what the iPhone is already playing, so the service sees one stream from one device, and the Apple TV is only a display in that moment. If you want the Apple TV and the iPhone to show different channels at the same time, that is two streams and needs a 2-screen plan.
Which is better for IPTV, an Apple TV or a Fire TV Stick?
Both work well. The Apple TV has a faster processor, a quieter interface and no ads, and App Store installs are simple. A Fire TV Stick costs far less and runs TiviMate, which many people prefer for its guide layout. If you already own an Apple TV, use it. If you are buying a device only for IPTV, read the Fire TV Stick guide first.
Can I watch IPTV on an iPad on cellular data?
Yes, and it uses about 1 to 1.5 GB per hour in HD and 2 to 3 GB per hour in Full HD, so most Canadian phone plans run out quickly. Use Wi-Fi where you can, and lower the stream quality in the player when you are on data. Keep Low Data Mode in mind as well; it can reduce quality without telling you.
