IPTV FAQ Devices & player apps
How do I watch IPTV on an iPhone or iPad?
Can you watch IPTV on an iPhone or iPad?
Yes. Any iPhone or iPad that installs apps from the App Store can play IPTV, with no jailbreak and no computer. Channels come from your subscription, and the player app turns your login into a channel list, a TV guide and a video window.
Check two things first. Read the minimum iOS or iPadOS version on the app's App Store page, because a very old iPad may not qualify. And remember that each device streaming at the same moment counts as one screen on your plan. An iPhone in the kitchen and a Fire TV in the living room playing together need a two-screen plan. Our answer on using one subscription on several devices explains how screens are counted.
What is the best IPTV app for iPad and iPhone?
The best IPTV app for an iPad or iPhone accepts Xtream Codes, shows a TV guide and is still updated by its maker. Several players clear that bar. Apps get renamed and removed often, so read this table as a snapshot from October 2026.
| App | Login it accepts | Price to install | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| IPTV Smarters (listing name varies) | Xtream Codes, M3U link | Free | A layout close to a TV box, with Live TV, Movies and Series tabs |
| GSE Smart IPTV | M3U link, Xtream Codes | Free, optional in-app purchases | Viewers who enjoy lots of playback settings |
| iPlayTV | M3U link, Xtream Codes | Paid | A tidy iPad grid that also runs on Apple TV |
| VLC for Mobile | A single M3U link, no guide | Free | A quick test that a stream plays at all |
TiviMate, a favourite on Android TV, has no iPhone or iPad version, so there is no point searching for it. The IPTV Smarters Pro walkthrough explains each screen of that app.
How do you set up IPTV on an iPhone, step by step?
Setting up IPTV on an iPhone takes about five minutes once you hold a login. Every Xtream Codes player asks for the same three details.
- Get a login. A paid plan or the free 24-hour trial arrives by email with a server URL, a username and a password.
- Open the App Store, tap Search and type the player's name. Tap Get and confirm with Face ID or your Apple ID password.
- Launch the app and choose Login with Xtream Codes API.
- Give the profile any name, then enter the username, password and server URL. Keep the
http://and the port number at the end of the URL exactly as written. - Tap Add User and keep the app open while channels and the guide download.
- Open Live TV, choose a category and tap a channel. Turn the phone sideways for full screen.
Autocorrect causes most failed logins. iOS likes to capitalise the first letter of a username or slip a space after a full stop, and either one breaks the sign-in. The Apple TV, iPhone and iPad setup guide has screen-by-screen help if your device looks different.
Can you send IPTV from an iPhone to your TV?
Yes, through AirPlay. An Apple TV, or a recent Samsung, LG, Sony, Vizio or Roku model with AirPlay 2, can show the iPhone's stream on the big screen. Tap the AirPlay icon inside the player if it has one. If not, open Control Centre, tap Screen Mirroring and pick the TV. AirPlay only works when the phone and the television share one Wi-Fi network.
Mirroring drains the battery and cuts out when a call arrives. For nightly viewing, a player installed on the television runs smoother; our answer on IPTV on a Smart TV without a box shows how to do that.
Watching IPTV on an iPhone away from home
IPTV on an iPhone runs on any Wi-Fi or on cellular data, so the game can travel with you to the cottage. Cellular is where the cost hides. A Full HD channel uses roughly 2 to 3.5 GB an hour, which means a 10 GB phone plan covers only three or four hours. When you are off Wi-Fi, pick the SD or HD version of a channel if the list offers one. Full numbers are in how much data IPTV uses.
If the app still refuses your login, IPTV Jacom support answers in Live Chat in English and French, every day, 9 a.m. until midnight ET.

Is there a free IPTV app for iPhone?
Yes. IPTV Smarters, GSE Smart IPTV and VLC are free to install from the App Store at the time of writing. The app is only a player, though. Channels come from a subscription, so you still need a login from a provider. Some free players show ads or sell extras, none of which you need to watch IPTV Jacom channels.
Can I use the same IPTV login on my iPad and my TV?
Yes. Enter the same username, password and server URL in the player on each device. The only limit is how many play together. A one-screen plan streams on one device at a time, so the iPad has to stop before the TV starts. Plans for two to five screens let them run side by side; two screens cost $30 CAD for a month.
Why does my IPTV app say the login is invalid on iPhone?
Usually it is a typing slip. Look for a capital letter that iOS added to the username, a space at the end of a field, or a missing port number in the server URL. If all three look right, the plan may have ended or another screen may already be streaming on it. Copying the details straight from the email rules out typos.
Does IPTV work on an old iPad?
It depends on the iPadOS version. Each player lists a minimum version on its App Store page, and iPads that stopped getting updates may fall short. If the App Store offers the last compatible version, accept it and test with the free trial. When no player installs at all, a low-cost streaming stick on the TV is simpler.
