IPTV FAQ: Straight Answers for Canadian Viewers
This IPTV FAQ gathers the questions Canadians type into search engines and ask our support team, from "what is IPTV" to renewing a plan. Every answer starts with a one-line reply, then gives the detail. Search below or browse by topic.
What is IPTV? The short answer first
IPTV (Internet Protocol television) is live TV and on-demand video sent over the internet rather than through cable or a dish. A player app does the work, on almost any screen with a connection: televisions, streaming sticks, tablets, laptops.
The longer version is on Wikipedia's IPTV entry, and the setup side lives in our installation guides. For prices, see the IPTV Jacom plans in CAD; for the national picture, the home page on IPTV in Canada.

How are these IPTV answers written?
The people who staff our Live Chat write them, in the order viewers ask. Each one follows the same rules:
- The direct answer comes in the first sentence, before any background.
- Numbers come from the current price list and plan details, never from guesswork.
- App and device details are dated, because stores and menus change.
- When IPTV is a poor fit, for example on capped satellite internet, the answer says so.
- Questions about the law stay factual and general; none of it is legal advice.
About this page
Questions about the IPTV FAQ
What is IPTV, in simple terms?
IPTV is television that reaches you as internet data, so the cable company's wire and the rooftop dish drop out of the picture. A player app signs in with your login and lays out live channels in a guide grid, with films and series ready on demand beside them. The full answer on what IPTV means covers how it differs from cable.
My question is not on this list. Where can I ask it?
Ask it in Live Chat, any day from 9 a.m. to midnight Eastern, or send it through the contact form. A person replies in English or French. When the same question reaches us often enough, it gets its own answer page here, so the next person can find the reply without waiting for anyone.
Are these answers about IPTV Jacom only, or IPTV in general?
Mostly IPTV in general, as it works in Canada. Questions such as how IPTV works, which device to buy or how much data it uses have the same answer whichever provider you choose. Where IPTV Jacom does something its own way, such as payment by Interac e-Transfer or the free 24-hour trial, the answer says so plainly.
How current are the answers?
Each answer page shows the date it was published and, when its content changes, the date of the update. App names, store listings and device menus change most often, so those answers say "as of 2026" where a detail might move. If you spot something out of date, tell us in Live Chat and the page gets corrected.
Question not answered here?
A person answers in Live Chat, in English or French, every day, 9 a.m. until midnight ET. Or test the service yourself with the free 24-hour trial.
