IPTV Jacom on Roku
IPTV on Roku: how to watch IPTV Jacom on a Roku in Canada
Roku does not carry a proper IPTV player, and we would rather say so up front. You can still watch tonight by mirroring a phone or laptop, and a small stick next to the Roku fixes it for good.
- About 10 minutes
- Works with trial and paid logins
- Every button named

IPTV on Roku comes with one catch: as of 2026, you cannot install a full IPTV player on it. The Roku store has no app that takes an Xtream Codes login and shows a complete TV guide, and Roku does not allow everyday sideloading the way a Fire TV Stick does. What a Roku can do is display another device's screen. Android phones and Windows PCs send their picture through Roku's own screen mirroring, while iPhones, iPads and Macs use AirPlay on the Roku models that support it.
That puts IPTV Jacom on the big screen tonight, with your phone doing the work. As a daily habit it is clumsy: the phone stays busy, the battery drains and a text message can pop up mid-game. So this page also covers the plug-in stick that fixes it for good.
Before step 1: have these ready
- A Roku player or Roku TV with current software (Settings, System, System update, Check now)
- A phone, tablet or computer connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Roku
- A player app on that device, signed in with your IPTV Jacom login or trial
- A charger for the phone, because mirroring drains a battery quickly
Mirror IPTV to a Roku from your phone or computer
Steps 1 and 2 prepare the Roku. Steps 3 and 4 prepare the phone or computer. Steps 5 to 7 put the picture on the TV.
Allow screen mirroring on the Roku
Press Home on the Roku remote and open Settings, System, Screen mirroring, Screen mirroring mode. Choose Prompt to approve each device, or Always allow if only your own phones use the TV. Leave the Roku on this screen for now; you come back to it if a device ends up blocked.
For Apple devices, switch on AirPlay
Go to Settings, then Apple AirPlay and HomeKit, and make sure AirPlay is on. No such menu means no AirPlay on that model. Android and Windows users can skip this step.
Install a player on the phone or computer
On an Android phone, install IPTV Smarters Pro or another Xtream Codes player, as our Android phone and tablet guide describes. On an iPhone or iPad, use a player from the App Store. On a Windows PC, a desktop player or VLC with your M3U link works; the Windows PC and Mac guide has the details.
Sign in and test on the small screen first
Enter the server URL, username and password from your IPTV Jacom email, or paste the M3U link. Play a channel on the phone or computer before you mirror anything. If it plays smoothly there, any later trouble is the mirroring link, not your login.
Start mirroring to the Roku
Android: swipe down twice from the top to reach the quick settings tiles. The mirroring tile is named Smart View on Samsung Galaxy phones and Screen cast or Cast on many other brands. Tap it and choose the Roku. Windows 11: hold the Windows key, press K, and pick the Roku from the panel. iPhone or iPad: open Control Centre (a swipe down from the top-right corner on most models), press the Screen Mirroring button (two overlapping rectangles) and pick the Roku. Mac: the same button lives in Control Centre in the menu bar.
Approve the connection on the TV
With the mode set to Prompt, the Roku shows a message naming your device. Choose Allow for this time or Always allow to skip the question next time. AirPlay may show a four-digit code on the TV instead; type it on the iPhone. The phone screen appears on the TV a few seconds later.
Go full screen and keep the phone awake
Open the channel, turn the phone sideways and tap the full-screen button so the picture fills the TV. Plug the phone into its charger, switch on Do Not Disturb so messages stay off the TV, and stop the screen from locking. Browse the channel list beforehand so you know which categories to open.
Roku IPTV Canada: why the store has no proper player
Roku approves every app in its store and runs a closed system, so the full IPTV players found on Android, such as TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro, are not available there as of 2026. A few lightweight playlist apps have come and gone over the years. They usually lack an Xtream Codes login, a working guide, or both, and some stop after a Roku software update.
Roku also has a developer mode, but it exists for app makers testing their own work. It holds one test app at a time and is not meant for daily viewing, so we do not recommend it. Our answer on IPTV on Roku covers this in more depth, and we will update this guide if Roku's store changes.
The better daily setup: a stick next to your Roku
For nightly viewing, plug a Fire TV Stick or Google TV device into a second HDMI port. You get a dedicated remote, a full TV guide, and a phone that stays in your pocket.
| Option | What you need | Setup | Day-to-day comfort |
|---|---|---|---|
| Screen mirroring | Android phone or Windows PC | Five minutes | Fair: phone tied up, picture depends on Wi-Fi |
| AirPlay | iPhone, iPad or Mac with an AirPlay-capable Roku | Five minutes | Fair: same limits as mirroring |
| Fire TV Stick | A stick and a free HDMI port | About ten minutes | Good: real remote, full guide |
| Google TV Streamer | A streamer, an HDMI port, Ethernet if you like | About ten minutes | Good: Google Play players, wired option |
Our Fire TV Stick setup guide takes you from the box to the first channel. On a Roku TV, the stick appears as an HDMI input tile on the Roku home screen, so switching between the two takes one click.
Screen mirroring to Roku not working?
When the Roku does not appear on the phone, the cause is usually the network or the phone brand, not the Roku itself. Check this table first.
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| The Roku is not in the phone's list | Put both on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network. Condo and hotel Wi-Fi often blocks device-to-device traffic. |
| A Google Pixel cannot find the Roku | As of 2026, Pixel phones only cast to devices with Google Cast built in, and Roku is not one of them. Use another device or a stick. |
| The device was refused once and now never connects | Settings, System, Screen mirroring, Screen mirroring devices: move it from Blocked to Allowed. |
| Picture stutters or sound lags | Move closer to the router and use the 5 GHz band. Pause and restart the channel to resync the sound. |
| The picture drops when the phone locks | Turn off auto-lock or set it to Never while you watch, and keep the phone charging. |
Roku mirroring uses the Miracast standard, which Windows and most Android phones support and iPhones do not.
IPTV on Roku: common questions
Can TiviMate or IPTV Smarters be sideloaded onto a Roku?
No. A Roku runs its own operating system, not Android, so the TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro install files have nothing to run on. Developer mode is for programmers testing apps written for Roku, one at a time. If you want those players on that TV, a streaming stick from Amazon or Google in a spare HDMI port is the way.
Does Roku screen mirroring work with an iPhone?
Not through Roku's screen mirroring feature, which is built for Android and Windows. An iPhone uses AirPlay instead, which most current 4K Roku players and many Roku TVs support. Open Control Centre, tap Screen Mirroring and pick the Roku. If the Roku is missing from the list, check Settings, Apple AirPlay and HomeKit on the Roku.
Does mirroring to a Roku use a second screen on my plan?
No. Only the phone or computer pulls the stream from our servers; the Roku just shows its picture, so a mirrored session uses one screen. Two people watching two different channels on two devices is another matter, and that needs a 2-screen plan or larger. The IPTV subscription price table lists every screen count in CAD.
Is a Roku or a Fire TV Stick better for IPTV in Canada?
For IPTV, a Fire TV Stick or Google TV device is the better pick, because it runs full players with a TV guide and a proper remote. A Roku is very good for official streaming apps but cannot install those players. You can keep both on one TV and switch inputs depending on what you watch.
Can I test IPTV on my Roku TV before buying anything?
Yes. Request the free 24-hour trial, install a player on your phone or laptop, and mirror it to the Roku as shown above. If you like the service, buy a stick for daily viewing and sign in with the same details.
