TiviMate on Firestick in Canada: Full Setup, EPG and Premium
A step-by-step TiviMate setup for Fire TV Stick owners in Canada, from the first Downloader install to the Fire TV Stick 4K settings that make sports look smooth.

What do you need before installing TiviMate on a Fire TV Stick?
You need a Fire TV Stick that runs Fire OS, the free Downloader app, some free storage and the Xtream Codes details your provider emailed. A phone nearby makes typing easier. The TiviMate Firestick setup takes 10 to 15 minutes on a normal Canadian home connection, and nothing has to be bought before you start.
Check the operating system first. Amazon moved a few recent models, the Fire TV Stick 4K Select among them, to its own Vega OS, and Vega OS cannot run Android apps. As of 2026 the Lite, HD, 4K and 4K Max sticks and the Cube remain on Fire OS. The About page inside Settings and My Fire TV names the system yours runs.
- A Fire TV Stick, Stick 4K, 4K Max or Cube on Fire OS (not Vega OS)
- Downloader, a free app by AFTVnews in the Amazon Appstore
- Your Xtream Codes details: server address with its port, username and password
- At least 500 MB of free space (Settings, My Fire TV, About, Storage)
- An Android phone or tablet, only if you plan to buy TiviMate Premium
The last point surprises people. TiviMate Premium is bought through a separate Companion app that, as of 2026, only runs on Android phones and tablets. An iPhone household can borrow a relative's Android device for the five-minute purchase, then sign in on the stick.
How do you sideload TiviMate with Downloader?
Sideloading means installing an app from a file instead of from the Appstore. On a Fire TV Stick you let Downloader install apps, open the TiviMate download link inside Downloader, and press Install when the Android prompt appears. The whole sequence takes about five minutes, and you only do it once per stick.
Reveal Developer options
In Settings, enter My Fire TV and open About. Your stick's model name sits at the top of that list: select it seven times in a row. A banner confirms developer mode, and Developer options now shows one level up.
Get Downloader and give it permission
Search the Appstore for Downloader, the orange icon with a down arrow, and press Get. Then return to Developer options, open Install unknown apps, and set Downloader to On. Without that switch, the next step ends in an error.
Fetch the TiviMate file
Open Downloader, select the address bar and enter the TiviMate link from the developer's official site, or the current link our team sends in Live Chat. The file is small and usually arrives in under a minute.
Install, then delete the installer
On the Android screen, pick Install, then Done. When Downloader asks about the file, choose Delete twice. Most sticks have only 8 or 16 GB of storage, and forgotten installers are a common reason they slow down.
Pin TiviMate to the home row
Press and hold Home, choose Apps, highlight TiviMate and press the Menu button with three lines. Pick Move to front so it sits beside your other streaming apps.
The general Fire TV routine, with each menu explained, is in our Fire TV Stick installation guide. The rest of this post is specific to TiviMate.
How do you add an Xtream Codes playlist in TiviMate?
On first launch TiviMate offers Add playlist; pick it and select the Xtream Codes type. Copy in the three login details from your welcome email and press Next. A summary screen then reports how many live channels, films and series came through. Name the playlist, press Done, and the guide loads quietly in the background.
| Field | What to type | Mistake to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Server address | Everything in the email, from http:// through to the colon and the port digits | Dropping the port, or typing https when the email says http |
| Username | Exactly as sent, letter for letter | The on-screen keyboard capitalising the first letter for you |
| Password | Exactly as sent | Reading a zero as a capital O, or a small L as a capital i |
| Playlist name | Anything short, such as "Jacom" | None; a short name just reads better if you add playlists later |
TiviMate also takes an M3U link under Add playlist, then Enter URL. For a stick, Xtream is still the better choice. One login brings in the channels, the film and series library and the guide, so you never type a second guide address.
No login yet? IPTV Jacom emails Xtream details for its 24-hour free trial: every channel, nothing to pay, one trial per household. Set TiviMate up tonight and see how the guide behaves in your living room while it costs nothing.
Typing a long server address with the remote is slow. Install the Amazon Fire TV app on your phone, pair it with the stick, and use the phone keyboard instead. Copying the details straight from the welcome email removes most typing errors.
How do you make the TiviMate EPG (TV guide) fill in?
With an Xtream Codes playlist, TiviMate pulls the EPG from the same server and fills the guide by itself within a few minutes. If the grid stays empty, open Settings, then EPG, and check that a source is listed and switched on. Then confirm the update interval and the time zone on the stick.
Three EPG settings worth a look
- EPG source. An Xtream playlist adds its own source automatically. An M3U playlist needs one added by hand: Add EPG source, then the XMLTV address support sends.
- Update interval. Once a day suits most homes. A shorter interval rarely adds anything, and on a stick with little storage it adds wear.
- Time shift. Leave it at zero when the stick's clock is right. Touch it only when the whole grid runs early or late by an identical amount.
The clock matters more than people expect. Open Settings, Preferences, Time Zone on the Fire TV itself. A stick set up in Ontario and carried to a cottage in Manitoba keeps Eastern time until you change it, and the guide shifts by an hour.
When only a handful of channels say "No information" while the rest are fine, the cause is usually channel mapping, not a TiviMate setting. Our fix for an EPG that is not updating covers mapping, cache and refresh in more depth.
Is TiviMate Premium worth paying for?
TiviMate Premium is worth it if you want catch-up, recording, several playlists or multi-view. For plain live TV with a guide, the free version is enough. You pay for Premium inside a separate phone app called TiviMate Companion, priced by the developer in US dollars as a yearly or one-time fee, and the account works on several devices.
| Feature | Free | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Channel grid and live playback | Included | Included |
| Playlists you can load | 1 | More than 1 |
| Replay of earlier shows (catch-up) | Not available | Where the channel supports it |
| Recording | Not available | Available, but stick storage fills quickly |
| Multi-view (two or more channels at once) | Not available | Available |
| Custom favourites and manual channel order | Basic | Full control |
Activation runs through the phone. Get TiviMate Companion on an Android handset, register, and complete the purchase in that app. Back on the TV, find the Premium or account entry under Settings in TiviMate and log in with the Companion username and password. The Premium badge usually shows within a minute.
Check today's price inside the Companion app, because the developer sets it, not your IPTV provider. TiviMate Premium and your channel subscription are two separate purchases, and neither renews the other. A 12-month IPTV Jacom plan for one screen is $80 CAD, paid once by Interac e-Transfer; the IPTV subscription price table shows all four lengths for one to five screens.
The app is listed on Google Play as TiviMate IPTV Player, where the developer posts its change log. Reading it before a big update tells you whether a setting has moved.
Which Fire TV Stick 4K settings make TiviMate look and sound better?
Four Fire TV Stick 4K settings matter most: Video Resolution on Auto, Match Original Frame Rate on, Dynamic Range on Adaptive, and Surround Sound on Best Available. Together they stop the judder on hockey and soccer, keep colours natural on regular HD channels, and send surround audio to a soundbar when a channel carries it.
| Setting | Where to find it | Set it to | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Video Resolution | Settings, Display & Sounds, Display | Auto | The stick reads what your TV supports and picks the highest match |
| Match Original Frame Rate | Settings, Display & Sounds, Display | On | European feeds use 50 frames a second while North American feeds sit near 60; matching stops the stutter |
| Dynamic Range Settings | Settings, Display & Sounds, Display | Adaptive | Always HDR makes ordinary HD channels look washed out |
| Surround Sound | Settings, Display & Sounds, Audio | Best Available | Passes Dolby audio to a soundbar; switch to Stereo if a channel goes silent |
| Network band | Settings, Network | The 5 GHz name of your router | Less crowded than 2.4 GHz in apartments and townhouses |
Inside TiviMate, open Settings, then Playback. Turn on auto frame rate if your version lists it, because the Fire TV switch only acts when the app requests a new rate. Leave the buffer size on its default, and raise it one step only if a channel stutters at a steady rhythm.
Your link to the router counts as much as any menu. A 4K Max on 5 GHz Wi-Fi one room from the router usually holds 4K. Two walls and a floor away, it often does not.
Amazon sells an Ethernet adapter for Fire TV that plugs in between the stick and its charger for a wired link, which helps more than a faster internet plan. Amazon lists which ports and Wi-Fi standards each model has on its Fire TV device specifications page.
What are the most common TiviMate problems on a Fire TV Stick?
Most TiviMate problems on a Fire TV Stick trace back to four causes: no storage left, a mistyped login, a stale guide, or weak Wi-Fi. Each one has a quick check, listed below in the order we see them in Live Chat. Work down the list before reinstalling anything.
- "App not installed". The stick is low on space or the download broke halfway. Delete old installers in Downloader, clear its cache, then fetch the file again.
- Downloader missing from Install unknown apps. Restart the stick from Settings, My Fire TV, Restart, then look again. The list sometimes refreshes only after a reboot.
- Zero channels or a login error. Re-check the server address and port, then ask support whether the login has expired. Trial logins expire on their own once the 24 hours are up.
- Empty guide after an hour. Go to Settings, EPG, choose the source and pick Update EPG. Then check the stick's time zone.
- Freezes every few minutes. Move the stick to 5 GHz, add the Ethernet adapter, and restart the router once.
- Premium shows as free after an update. Sign out of the Companion account inside TiviMate and sign back in.
- The stick feels slow. Under Settings, Applications, Manage Installed Applications, clear the cache of TiviMate, never its data, which holds your playlist.
Still unsure which player suits your home? The answer to which IPTV app works best on a Firestick compares TiviMate with IPTV Smarters Pro in plain terms, and our TiviMate walkthrough shows every menu. If anything here does not match your screen, Live Chat answers every day, 9 a.m. until midnight ET, in English and French.
TiviMate on Fire TV: reader questions
Is TiviMate free on a Fire TV Stick?
Yes, the TiviMate app costs nothing to install, and the free tier shows live channels in the complete guide grid. The paid Premium upgrade is optional and adds catch-up, recording, several playlists and multi-view. You still need an IPTV subscription for the channels, because TiviMate is only a player. It does not come with any content of its own.
Why can I not find TiviMate in the Amazon Appstore?
TiviMate is published on Google Play for Android TV, and as of 2026 the Canadian Amazon Appstore does not carry it. Fire TV Sticks run a version of Android, so the app installs fine as a sideloaded file through Downloader. Only the newer Vega OS sticks cannot take it, because they do not run Android apps at all.
Does TiviMate Premium cover a second Fire TV Stick?
Yes. A single Premium purchase is tied to an account, not a device, so a living-room stick and a bedroom stick can share it. Sign in on each one with the same Companion account details. Keep in mind that each stick playing at the same time also counts as a screen on your IPTV plan, which is a separate limit set by your provider.
