IPTV Login Error? Read the Message, Then Fix the Right Thing
Most login errors name their own cause. Here is what each common message means, how to rule out typos and wrong server addresses, and when only support can fix it.

What is the IPTV login error telling you?
An IPTV login error tells you which of five things went wrong. The cause is what you typed, the plan’s end date, the number of screens playing, the path to the server, or the player app’s own licence. The words on screen point to one of those nearly every time, and the table below sorts them out.
| What the screen says | What it usually means | First thing to do |
|---|---|---|
| “Invalid username or password”, “Invalid credentials”, “Login failed” | A typo, an old login, or a server address that changed | Delete and retype all three fields by hand |
| “Account expired”, “Subscription expired”, “Line expired” | The end date on the login has passed | Check the date in the app, then extend |
| “Max connections reached”, “Too many connections” | Another device is still streaming on the same login | Close every other stream and wait two minutes |
| “Authorization failed” or “Access denied” on a MAG or Formuler box | The box’s MAC address is not linked to an active account | Read the MAC from the label and send it to support |
| “Unable to connect”, “Server not responding”, “Timed out” | The app cannot reach the server at all | Check the internet first, then the server URL and port |
| “Activate”, “Trial ended” or “Device not registered” in a Smart TV app | The player app’s own licence, separate from your plan | Check the app maker’s activation page |
| “No channels”, “Empty playlist” or “Parse error” with an M3U link | The link is incomplete, out of date or in the wrong field | Paste the full link again into the playlist field |
Take a photo of the screen before you press OK. The exact words matter, and many apps clear the message as soon as you dismiss it. A photo also saves typing later if you need to send it to support.
Some apps show a number instead of words, such as 401 or 403. Those are HTTP status codes, and our explainer on what codes like 401 and 403 mean on IPTV covers them one by one. No message at all, only a spinning circle, means buffering rather than a login problem. In that case the guide to player buffer settings is the better place to start.
How do you fix “invalid username or password” on IPTV?
Fix “invalid username or password” by deleting all three login fields and typing them again slowly, checking capitals, look-alike characters and stray spaces. Most of these errors happen on the trip from a phone screen to a TV remote. If a careful retype still fails, the account or the server address has changed, and typing harder will not help.
Where the typos come from
Logins look random on purpose, which makes them easy to get wrong. These are the slips behind most failed sign-ins:
- Automatic capitals. Phone keyboards capitalise the first letter of a note or message, and IPTV usernames and passwords are case sensitive.
- Invisible spaces. Copying from an email often grabs a space or line break at the end. The field looks right, but the server sees one extra character.
- Look-alike characters. A lowercase L, a capital i and the number 1 look almost the same in many fonts, and so do “rn” and “m” on a small screen.
- Sticky shift keys. Some TV keyboards stay in capitals after one capital letter, or switch to capitals after a full stop.
- Old autofill. A phone or browser may fill in a previous login from memory when you set up a new device.
- Wrong field. IPTV Smarters Pro asks for a name first. That box is a label you choose, such as “Living room”, not your username.
Type the login with your phone, not the remote
Most TV platforms have a free remote app for phones with a keyboard button. Fire TV has the Amazon Fire TV app, and Google TV devices work with the Google TV or Google Home app. Samsung and LG sets have their own companion apps, with names that change from year to year. Connect the phone to the same Wi-Fi as the TV, open the login screen, and tap the keyboard icon.
With a phone keyboard you can type at normal speed and see each character large and clear. On most of these apps you can also paste text into the phone field, which avoids typos entirely. If you paste, check the end of each field for a trailing space before you press Sign in.
Why does a wrong server URL or port cause a login error?
The server URL tells the app where your account lives, so one wrong character sends your login to a place that does not know you. The usual slips are a missing port, the right address in the wrong field, https in place of http, or an old address after the provider moved servers. Check the address one part at a time.
| Part | Example shape | What goes wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Scheme | http:// | Typing https:// when the login message says http://, or leaving it out in an app that needs it |
| Host name | tv.example.com | One letter off, a missing dot, or an older host the provider has retired |
| Port | :8080 | Left out, typed twice, or with a space before the colon |
| Path | Anything after the port | Extra parts pasted into a field that wants only the address and port |
A port is a numbered door on the server. Web addresses with no port use door 80 for http and door 443 for https, which is why most websites never show one. IPTV servers often answer on a different door, so the number after the colon in your login message is not optional. The Wikipedia page on network ports has the background if you are curious.
Xtream, M3U and portal fields are not interchangeable
- Xtream Codes login: three fields. The server field takes only the address and port, and the username and password go in their own boxes.
- M3U playlist link: one long link that already contains your username and password. Paste it into the playlist URL field, never into the server field.
- Portal login (MAG, Formuler): a portal URL, often ending in /c/, plus the box’s MAC address. There is usually no username at all.
Because an M3U link carries your password inside it, the whole link changes when the password changes. Editing one part by hand is risky, so ask for a fresh link rather than patching the old one.
It worked yesterday and fails today
A login that worked for months and suddenly reads as invalid on every device usually means one of two things. Either the provider moved to a new server address and sent it out, or a renewal created a new login rather than extending the old one. Search your email and WhatsApp for the newest login message, and compare its server address with the one in your app.
What does “account expired” mean, and how do you get back in?
“Account expired” means the end date on your login has passed and the server has stopped serving it. Nothing is broken, and your favourites and settings are safe. Extend the plan, wait for the confirmation, then close and reopen the app so it reads the new date. Most apps then play again without retyping anything.
The end date sits in a different place in each app. IPTV Smarters Pro usually prints it near the bottom of the dashboard. In TiviMate, open Settings, Playlists and select your playlist; Xtream logins normally list the expiry date there. Portal boxes may show it on the portal’s account screen, if at all.
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| The plan ended and you want the same login back | Choose Extend subscription at checkout. The time is added to the same username. |
| The free trial ended | Trials run 24 hours and then stop. Pick a plan, and support confirms which login to use. |
| You extended, but the app still says expired | Force-close the app and reopen it, then refresh the playlist. Apps keep the old date until they ask the server again. |
| You paid late at night | Activation usually takes 10 to 30 minutes during support hours, so a payment sent overnight may wait for the morning. |
| You placed a new order instead of extending | You may receive a separate login. Use the details in the newest message. |
Every IPTV Jacom IPTV subscription is paid once by Interac e-Transfer and never renews by itself, so a plan that runs out simply stops. That is by design: nobody charges your bank without you choosing to. The flip side is that you need to extend before the date, not after. Our FAQ on how renewing an IPTV plan works walks through the checkout steps.
Why does IPTV say “max connections reached”?
IPTV says “max connections reached” when the streams playing on your login already equal the screens your plan allows. The extra stream is often a device nobody remembers: a tablet left playing upstairs, a phone app minimised mid-show, or a box that lost power while a channel was on. Close everything, wait two minutes, then start one screen at a time.
| What you are doing | Streams it usually uses |
|---|---|
| Watching one live channel on one TV | 1 |
| Watching a film or series on demand | 1 |
| Replaying a show from catch-up | 1 |
| Multi-view with four channels on one screen | Up to 4, one per channel |
| Recording one channel while watching another | 2 |
| Casting from a phone app to a Chromecast | Usually 1, pulled by the cast device |
| A phone app minimised with a channel still running | 1, even if nobody is watching |
| An app that crashed or lost power mid-stream | Can hold a slot for a few minutes |
| Browsing the guide without playing anything | Usually none |
The ghost stream
When an app crashes or a stick loses power, the server may not see the stream end straight away. It keeps the slot open until the connection times out, which usually takes a few minutes. That is why waiting works, and why pressing play ten times in a row does not. Repeated attempts can even keep the old slot busy for longer.
Replays count too. If the family watches a game from the archive on one TV while the news plays live on another, that is two screens. Our guide to catch-up and replay TV covers how replays work in more depth.
A login used outside your home
If you gave your login to a relative or a friend, their screen counts against your limit as well. If you see “max connections” when everyone at home is off, and you shared the login with nobody, ask support about a new password. A login posted or shared widely can be used by strangers on your plan.
When the house genuinely needs more screens at once, more restarts will not help. The screen count is chosen at checkout, from 1 to 5. For example, a 12-month plan is $80 for one screen and $130 for two, in CAD.
What does “authorization failed” mean on a MAG or Formuler box?
On a MAG or Formuler box, “authorization failed” usually means the portal does not recognise the box’s MAC address. Portal logins are tied to that hardware address instead of a username, so the provider has to register the exact MAC on your account. Read it from the label under the box, or from its settings screen, and send it to support.
A MAC address is six pairs of characters separated by colons. It only ever uses the digits 0 to 9 and the letters A to F, so there is never a letter O in it, only zeros. MAG boxes usually start with the same first three pairs, because those pairs identify the maker. The Wikipedia article on MAC addresses explains the format.
Read the right MAC
Some boxes have two MAC addresses, one for the cable port and one for Wi-Fi. Send the one printed on the label or shown on the portal set-up screen, not the one your router lists.
Check the portal URL
Type the portal address exactly as sent, including the slash at the end if there is one. A portal URL missing its last part reaches the server but not the portal.
Restart the box
After support confirms the MAC is active, unplug the box for 30 seconds. Many portals only check authorization at start-up.
Re-register after a box swap
A new box means a new MAC. Moving your account to replacement hardware needs support to update the address on their side.
Our MAG and Formuler portal setup guide shows where the portal screens sit on each type of box. Formuler boxes running MyTVOnline can also take an Xtream login on many models, which avoids the MAC step entirely.
Is the login error from your IPTV plan or from the player app?
Test the same login in a second app on a phone to find out. If it plays there, your plan and login are fine, and the problem sits in the first app: its settings, its version or its own licence. If the phone fails with the same message, the account or the server is the cause, and support can check it from their side.
Phone on mobile data
Turn Wi-Fi off on the phone, install a free player such as IPTV Smarters Pro, and sign in with the same details. If it plays, the account is healthy.
Same phone on home Wi-Fi
Turn Wi-Fi back on and try again. If it fails only now, look at the home network: a VPN on the router, custom DNS or a parental filter.
Fails everywhere
When the phone fails on both networks with the same message, the account or the server needs attention. Contact support with the result of both tests.
Smart TV apps with their own licence
Several player apps for Samsung, LG and other Smart TVs charge their own activation fee after a free period, separate from your IPTV plan. When that period ends, the app may show words like “expired”, “activate” or “trial ended”. Those look like an IPTV problem, but they come from the app maker. Your IPTV provider cannot renew another company’s app licence.
An outdated app is the other quiet cause. After a provider changes servers, an old app version can fail to sign in while the current version works. Update the app from its store before you try anything drastic. If the app closes instead of showing a message, our guide to an IPTV app that keeps crashing is the better match.
When should you contact support about a login error?
Contact support when the login fails on two different apps or devices, when “account expired” stays after you extended, or when “max connections” appears with every other screen switched off. Those cases need someone who can see your account from the server side. Typos, old addresses and forgotten streams you can usually fix yourself.
A good message gets a fast answer. Include these details:
- The message word for word, or the photo you took of it.
- Your login type (Xtream Codes, M3U link or portal) and the app name.
- When it last worked, and whether you renewed or changed devices since.
- The result of the phone test above.
- For MAG and Formuler boxes, the MAC address from the label.
- Your username. Never post your password in a forum or a public comment.
IPTV Jacom support answers in Live Chat every day, 9 a.m. until midnight ET, in English and French, and by phone at (905) 878-2725 in the same hours. If you lost your login message, ask the agent to send the details again by email or to WhatsApp on your own number.
Whichever IPTV service in Canada you use, the message table at the top of this page covers most login trouble you will ever meet. Once you are back in and the picture looks soft or blocky, the next stop is our guide to sharper 4K and HD picture settings.
Login error questions from readers
Why does my IPTV say invalid login when the details are correct?
The usual reason is a server address that changed, or an invisible space copied along with the password. Delete all three fields and type them again by hand rather than pasting. Then compare the server address with your most recent login message. If the same details work in a phone app but fail on the TV, the TV app or its keyboard is the problem, not your account.
Can I use one IPTV login on two TVs?
Yes, if your plan covers two screens. You can usually sign in on several devices, but only as many can play at the same moment as your plan’s screen count. With a one-screen plan, the second TV shows a “max connections” message while the first is playing. IPTV Jacom plans cover 1 to 5 screens, chosen at checkout.
How long after renewing does my IPTV login work again?
An extension is usually active within 10 to 30 minutes of payment during support hours, which run every day from 9 a.m. to midnight Eastern. Once it is confirmed, force-close the player and open it again so it reads the new end date. If it still says expired an hour later within those hours, send your order number in Live Chat.
Why does my MAG box say authorization failed after a reset?
A factory reset erases the portal address you typed, so the box may be knocking on the wrong door. Enter the portal URL again exactly as it was sent, including any slash at the end, then restart the box. The MAC address does not change with a reset. If the error stays, ask support to confirm that MAC is still active on your account.
