Which French channels can you get with IPTV?

French channels on IPTV fall into a handful of clear groups, and most viewers in Quebec, Ottawa-Gatineau and New Brunswick will find their usual evening line-up among them. We describe them by category rather than by network name; the full list sits on the channel list page.

Can you watch French Canadian channels with a TV box?

Yes. French Canadian channels play on an Android TV box, a Fire TV Stick, a MAG or Formuler box, a Smart TV app or a phone, because they come with your login rather than with the hardware. Any box that runs an IPTV player shows the same French groups a Smart TV does.

A few settings make a French evening easier:

  • Find the French groups. In the player's Live TV menu, open the category list and look for Quebec or French. Exact names vary a little between apps.
  • Build a favourites list. Long-press a channel and add it to Favourites, so your usual eight or ten stations sit on one screen.
  • Switch the menus to French. Several players offer French under Settings, then Language, and others follow the device's system language.
  • Change the audio track. Some films and series carry both French and English sound. Press the audio or track button during playback to swap.

Are there French movies and series on demand?

Yes. The on-demand library of 250,000+ titles includes French productions and French versions of many films and series, next to the English ones. What you get depends on the title: a Quebec film is usually in French only, while a Hollywood release may offer French sound, English sound or both.

Subtitles (sous-titres) work the same way. When a title has them, a subtitle button appears in the player while it plays. On live channels, caption support depends on the channel and on the player, so on-demand titles are the safer pick when someone at home is learning French or English.

Which IPTV package should French speakers choose?

French speakers should choose Full Channels. IPTV Jacom offers two lists: Full Channels, covering Canadian, French, sports, international, movies and series, and English Channels Only, a shorter list without the French groups. Both cost the same. Bilingual homes, common in Ottawa-Gatineau, Montreal and Moncton, get both languages on one login.

French is the first official language of roughly one Canadian in five, as the overview of French in Canada shows, and demand reaches well beyond Quebec. Viewers in Ontario, Manitoba and the Atlantic provinces ask us for the same stations. Local details for Quebec viewers are on the IPTV Quebec page and the IPTV Montreal page.

Support speaks French too. Live Chat answers in French or English every day, 9 a.m. until midnight ET, so setup help comes in the language you prefer. Try every French channel with the free 24-hour trial before you pay.

Can I watch hockey in French on IPTV?

Yes. The Quebec sports group carries games with French commentary whenever those channels broadcast them. Which games air in French depends on each season’s broadcast rights, since national and regional games are split between different channels. Open the TV guide on the French sports group to see what is on tonight, and favourite the channels you use most.

Is there IPTV support in French?

Yes. IPTV Jacom’s Live Chat and email support work in French and English every day, 9 a.m. until midnight ET. You can write in French from your first message, and setup steps can be explained in French for any device, from a Fire TV Stick to a Samsung or LG television. Send your questions to help@supportiptv.ca if you prefer email.

Can I get channels from France on IPTV?

Yes. Next to the Quebec stations, the Full Channels package has a European group that includes channels from France, plus Haitian and Caribbean channels in French and Creole. Schedules follow the home country’s clock, so a Paris evening show airs in the afternoon in Eastern Canada. The guide converts start times to your device’s time zone.

Do French channels cost extra?

No. French channels are part of Full Channels at the same price as every other plan, starting at $20 CAD for one month. There are no language add-ons to buy. If you only want English, the English Channels Only list is shorter and quicker to scroll, but it costs exactly the same.
