How to Watch Soccer in Canada: Leagues, Kick-off Times and Early Mornings

How to watch soccer in Canada when every league sells its rights to a different service. Where the Premier League, Champions League, MLS and Canadian Premier League have aired, what time matches start where you live, and how to watch at dawn without waking the house.

How to watch soccer in Canada: the quick answer

To watch soccer in Canada, follow each competition to its own Canadian rights holder. The Premier League, the Champions League, MLS and the Canadian Premier League are sold separately, often to different streaming services, and the holders change between seasons. Check each league’s official site for the 2026-27 season, then subscribe only to what you watch most.

After Canada co-hosted the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer, with matches in Toronto and Vancouver, plenty of new fans are asking where the club game lives the rest of the year. The honest answer is: in several places at once.

The sections below explain why the rights keep moving and what time matches start in each part of Canada. They also cover the two awkward weeks each year when kick-offs shift by an hour, and how to watch a 4:30 a.m. match without waking anyone.

Why do soccer rights in Canada change so often?

Soccer rights in Canada change often because each league sells them country by country, for a few seasons at a time, and streaming services now compete hard for them. A competition can move from one service to another between seasons, or be split between two. That is why last year’s answer, including one from an older article, may be wrong this year.

Canada is also a smaller rights market than the United States. A league may sell Canada on its own, or as part of a wider deal, as MLS did with its worldwide Apple agreement. The result is a patchwork: one service for English soccer, another for European club nights, a third for MLS, and Canadian broadcasters for parts of the domestic game.

  1. Start with the league’s own site

Most leagues publish their broadcast partners by country. The Premier League site, for example, lists who shows its matches around the world. That page is updated when a deal changes.

  2. Check the broadcaster’s schedule

Once you know the holder, open its schedule for the coming weekend. Not every match is always live, so confirm the one you care about.

  3. Read the plan page before paying

Note the price in CAD, whether the plan renews by itself, how many devices can stream at once, and whether the competition you want is in the tier you are buying.

  4. Set a reminder for August

Most European seasons start in August. A yearly check in late July catches any change before the first weekend.

What time do Premier League matches kick off in Canada?

Premier League matches kick off in Canada in the morning on weekends. For most of the season the UK is five hours ahead of Eastern time. The classic Saturday kick-off at 3 p.m. in the UK starts at 10 a.m. in Toronto and 7 a.m. in Vancouver. The early slot, 12:30 p.m. in the UK, starts at 7:30 a.m. in Toronto and 4:30 a.m. on the West Coast.

Saskatchewan follows the Central column from early November to mid-March and the Mountain column the rest of the season, because the province keeps one clock all year. Fans in Regina and Saskatoon share Winnipeg’s kick-off times in winter and Alberta’s in autumn and spring.

The West Coast carries the heaviest load. A 12:30 p.m. UK match at 4:30 a.m. in Vancouver and the rest of BC is a real alarm-clock decision, while the same match is a calm breakfast in Halifax. Many Pacific fans watch the 3 p.m. UK slot live at 7 a.m. and the early match on catch-up after it.

A full weekend of football can run all day. In Ontario, a Premier League match at 7:30 a.m. leads into the late European games and then the NFL’s 1 p.m. window. Our guide to NFL kick-off windows across Canada picks up where the soccer leaves off.

Why do kick-off times shift by an hour in October and March?

Kick-off times shift by an hour twice a year because Europe and Canada change their clocks on different weekends. Europe moves its clocks on the last Sunday of March and October, while most of Canada moves on the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November. For one to three weeks, the UK is four hours ahead of Eastern time, not five.

During those gaps, matches start one hour later on Canadian clocks. A kick-off at 3 p.m. in the UK begins at 11 a.m. in Toronto instead of 10, and at 8 a.m. in Vancouver instead of 7. Champions League nights shift the same way, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Toronto.

Your TV guide usually handles this by itself, because guide data is sent in universal time and your app converts it. Problems appear when someone set a manual time offset in the app months ago. If every match in the guide looks an hour off after a clock change, check the app’s EPG time shift setting before blaming the channel.

Calendar apps on phones get this right, which makes them a useful cross-check. Add a big match to your phone’s calendar from the league’s site, and compare it with what your TV guide says during those weeks.

Where does an IPTV service fit for soccer fans?

An IPTV service fits a soccer household as its everyday live TV over the internet, in place of cable. IPTV Jacom offers 55,000+ live channels in categories such as Canadian sports networks, sports in French, and world-language groups for Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, Arabic and European viewers. It does not change who holds soccer rights, and no provider can promise a given match.

The world-language groups are what many soccer homes notice first. Families who grew up with football in Lisbon, Naples, Bogotá or Casablanca often want the news, talk shows and culture from home as much as the matches. The channel categories page shows every group in the lineup, searchable by language.

A good IPTV service in Canada should also make the rest of the week easy: local news, kids’ channels and movies on demand on the same remote. Early weekend mornings are off-peak for home internet, so streams usually have more room than at 8 p.m. on a weeknight.

Pricing is in CAD and paid once. An IPTV subscription for one screen costs $20 for 1 month or $80 for 12 months, about $6.67 a month, paid by Interac e-Transfer with no contract and no automatic renewal. Two screens, for a match in the kitchen and another in the living room, cost $30 for 1 month.

Test it on a match weekend first. The 24-hour free trial needs no payment and opens the full channel list, one per household. Use it to check the guide, the world-language groups and the picture on a long cross-field pass.

How do you watch early-morning matches without waking the house?

Watch an early-morning match quietly by preparing the night before and sending the sound to headphones. Update and restart the streaming device, find the channel and add it to favourites, and pair Bluetooth headphones with the TV or streaming box. In the morning you only press two buttons, with the brightness low and the volume off.

  • The night before: update the player app, restart the device, and confirm the channel in the guide.
  • Favourites: add the channel to a group named for the weekend, so you are not scrolling in the dark.
  • Alarm: set it ten minutes before kick-off, enough time for the stream to settle during the build-up.
  • Headphones: pair them once and they reconnect each morning.
  • Spoilers: mute the family group chat and switch off goal alerts if you will watch on catch-up.
  • Plan B: if you sleep through it, start the match from catch-up, where the channel supports it, before opening any app.

Pairing headphones on common devices

On a Fire TV, Bluetooth headphones pair under Settings, then Controllers and Bluetooth Devices, then Other Bluetooth Devices. On Google TV and Android TV, look under Settings, then Remotes and Accessories, then Pair accessory. Roku players offer private listening through the Roku mobile app, which plays the TV sound on your phone. Menu names vary by model and software version.

Bluetooth audio can lag a little behind the picture, which looks odd when a player strikes the ball. Many TVs and streaming devices have an audio delay or AV sync setting in the sound menu. Adjust it once with the headphones on, during a close-up, and the setting usually sticks.

Very early starts in BC are the hardest. A 4:30 a.m. kick-off is rarely worth the alarm for a mid-table match, so save the live viewing for derbies and title games, and use catch-up for the rest. Western fans get a bonus in exchange: European evening matches arrive at lunchtime.

When are Champions League matches on in Canada?

Champions League matches in Canada are on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Most kick off at 9 p.m. Central European Time, which is 3 p.m. Eastern and noon Pacific, with a few earlier matches at 6:45 p.m. in Europe, or 12:45 p.m. Eastern. In recent seasons DAZN has held the Canadian rights; confirm for 2026-27.

Since the 2024-25 season, the competition has opened with a single 36-team league phase, where each club plays eight matches from September to January. The knockout rounds follow from February, and the final is played on a Saturday in late May or early June, at an afternoon hour in Canada.

The last matchday of the league phase, in late January, is built for multiview. All 18 matches kick off at the same time, so positions change by the minute. Each picture in a multiview layout is a separate stream, though, so four matches use four screens on your plan and four times the bandwidth.

Weekday afternoons are the real obstacle. Most fans in the East watch on catch-up or a replay in the evening, which only works if the score stays hidden. The Europa League and Conference League play on Thursdays at similar hours.

Other European leagues

Spain, Italy, Germany and France spread their matches across many slots, but a few patterns hold. Germany’s traditional Saturday afternoon kick-offs land at breakfast time in Canada, while the late evening matches in Spain, Italy and France arrive in the Canadian afternoon.

How do you follow MLS and the Canadian Premier League?

Follow MLS on Apple TV, which has held the league’s worldwide rights since 2023, and the Canadian Premier League through the partners listed on its own site. Both play roughly from spring to autumn, mostly at evening hours in North American time zones, which makes them the easiest soccer in Canada to watch live.

MLS and the three Canadian clubs

Canada has three MLS clubs: Toronto FC at BMO Field, CF Montréal at Stade Saputo, and the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place. In recent seasons the regular season has run from late February to October, with the playoffs ending in MLS Cup in early December. In recent seasons some matches with Canadian clubs have also aired on Canadian TV, alongside the Apple TV stream. The MLS site lists where each match streams.

Spring is the busiest stretch, when MLS overlaps the end of the NBA and NHL seasons. Our guide to Raptors tip-off times and multi-screen nights helps plan an evening with basketball and soccer on two screens.

The Canadian Premier League and the women’s game

The Canadian Premier League began play in 2019 with clubs from Vancouver Island to Halifax, including Forge FC in Hamilton, Cavalry FC near Calgary, Pacific FC in Langford and the HFX Wanderers. Its broadcast partners have changed in recent seasons, so check CanPL.ca for the current list. Forge FC shares Hamilton’s stadium with the Tiger-Cats, and our CFL season and Grey Cup guide covers the football side of that city.

Two more competitions round out the Canadian calendar. The Canadian Championship is a yearly cup between MLS and CPL clubs, with a place in the CONCACAF Champions Cup for the winner. The Northern Super League, a professional women’s league, started play in 2025. Check each competition’s site for where matches stream this season.

Questions about watching soccer in Canada

Where can I watch the Premier League in Canada?

In recent seasons the Premier League has streamed in Canada on Fubo, which has held the exclusive Canadian rights. Rights are sold for a few seasons at a time and can move, so confirm the current holder on the Premier League’s own site before you subscribe. Check how many devices can stream at once and whether the plan renews automatically.

What time does a 3 p.m. Premier League match start in Canada?

For most of the season, a 3 p.m. match in the UK starts at 10 a.m. in Toronto and 7 a.m. in Vancouver. That is 9 a.m. in Winnipeg, 8 in Calgary and 11 in Halifax. In the weeks when Europe and North America change their clocks on different dates, it starts one hour later on Canadian clocks. Newfoundland is 30 minutes ahead of the Atlantic time.

How do I watch MLS games in Canada?

MLS matches stream on Apple TV under the league’s worldwide agreement, which began in 2023. In recent seasons some matches with Toronto FC, CF Montréal and the Vancouver Whitecaps have also aired on Canadian TV. How the matches are packaged inside Apple TV has changed between seasons, so check the MLS site for the 2026 setup.

Why is the Champions League on in the afternoon in Canada?

Champions League matches kick off in the evening in Europe, usually at 9 p.m. Central European Time, which is 3 p.m. Eastern and noon Pacific in Canada. Earlier matches at 6:45 p.m. in Europe start at 12:45 p.m. Eastern. That puts most European nights in the middle of a Canadian workday, so catch-up and replays matter.
